The Hermitage

Top of every visitor`s list of things to see in St Petersburg has to be the Hermitage Museum. 

  A complex of 5 buildings - the Winter Palace, former residence of Russian tsars, the Small Hermitage, the Old and the New Hermitage, and the Hermitage Theatre – one of the largest and richest museums in the world with almost 2,7 million pieces of art.

The Hermitage Museum is one of the world`s most magnificent repositories of art treasures. So vast is its collection that only one-twentieth can be put on display at any one time. 

World famous masterpieces in the collection include Raphael's and Leonardo da Vinci's     Madonnas, paintings by Titian and Rembrandt, Mone, Renois, Picasso and Matisse.
